I think Aibileen was my favourite character, I loved the way she kept trying to keep Mae Mobley on the straight and narrow, also the courage that must have taken in a place like Jackson is unbelievable and although this is fiction it is because of people like Aibileen that we now have equality. I also heard that they are making a movie about this which I for one will definately be going to see. One final thing, at the end of the book I read the 'about the author' section and realized she grew up in Jackson Mississippi and had a maid, when she describes the maid I realized that both Minny and Aibileen are based on the authors real life maid. Makes it even better! Again thank you Kristen! OK I have finished it, which was not hard as I could not put the thing down :-)

The style and quality of writing is superb, you really become emotionally invested in the characters, the last book I felt like that about was Outlander by Dianne Gabaldon. Will let you know my final verdict when done, but so far what a great recommendation that otherwise I would not have even picked up.
