So a few weeks back I did a fun little “would you rather” on Eric from The Sookie Stackhouse books versus Edward from the Twilight books. Eric won by a landslide. Here is a new one, this time I’m keeping it in the Sookie series. So who would rather sink your teeth into between Eric Northman and Bill Compton? Here are the stats:

Eric Northman
Hair: Blond
Eyes: Blue
Age: 1,000+
Notes: He’s easy on the eyes, the most powerful vamp in area 5, and owns his own bar. He’s also over 1,000 years old, which makes him way older more powerful than Bill.

Bill Compton
Hair: Dark
Age: 174
Notes: Bill is a Civil War vet, how hot is that? He’s also handsome like Eric, but unlike Eric, Bill is the nice guy. While Eric is somewhat arrogant and manipulative, Bill is sweet and charming.

Bill everytime – a real gentleman with human values, despite his dark side. Eric’s a good character, but he just hasn’t got Bill’s raw charm.

Eric isn’t a patch on the dark and handsome bill. Eric treats Sookie as a prize to be won whereas Bill’s love is genuine, regardless of how it started out, and his desire to keep her safe can only be admired as a sign of his love (Eric may give her ‘more freedom’ to act as she wishes, but where’s his concern for her welfare?). Eric is playing a sly and manipulative game with Sookie and doesn’t deserve her. Bill may have betrayed her in the past but he’s redeemed himself.

Eric is the real great vampire, he has no secret plan, as the other one…Bill just sucks!!
And btw Sookie know him very well, he accepts the way Eric is, so it’s her choice not ours…sh’es safe with him, they’re lie ald buddies as she said many times, Eric cares for her, saved her life many times, was in pain and felt guilty in Dead and Gone….no way he really loves her, she need time just to realize it. love is not an easy affair afrter been betrayed.

If we’re talking True Blood Bill vs Eric, as far as I’m concerned, there’s no competition. TB Bill is wonderful, sexy, sensitive, well mannered defender of Sookie, and just the most handsome 174 year old you’ll ever see. I’m not a fan of the Nordic type. To each their own.

Bill. Eric is a great character, but Bill is devoted, sweet, self-torturing, and incredibly sexy. The sex scenes in the first two books are way hotter than anything that follows, in my opinion.

Some of these commenters are so condescending – assuming that all book readers are automatically Team Eric. I’ve read all the books and I am still unilaterally Team Bill. W/O giving spoilers, Eric definitely gets a lot of the fun lines (because he’s deliciously manipulative), but Bill’s story is more compelling to me. He’s not perfect, but neither is Sookie (who puts kissing other people out of her head, for example, while she’s still with Bill who is faithful to her).

Loving Vampire Bill. I don’t know what secrets he may have, but he treats Sookie with respect and he genuinely loves her. He may be a vampire but he has a courtly, gentlemanly way about him. I’d spend my eternity with him, no question about it.

Being a big fan of the books and show(due to Alexander Skarsgard), Eric has my vote. He maybe manipulative and violent(part of a vampire’s nature), but at least he’s up front and honest about it unlike Bill. In fact, he is worse because he hides his true nature by pretending to be something he’s not, being all self-righteous and a hypocrite. Basic facts, Eric is stronger, bigger, taller, more powerful(Sheriff Area 5), older, and certainly better looking than Bill. Most important of all, he has a great sense of humor and the only person/vampire who gets Sookie. I’ll take the Viking over the old-fashion southern gentlemen anyday. Sorry, I just can’t stand him yelling Sookie which sounds like”Sucky” or “Sucky is mahn.” Pleeease.

Bill Compton is my choice because of Stephen Moyers portrayal of him. Haven’t read the books, don’t care about them, so my choice is purely True Blood. Bill all the way.

Eric is a great character but dosen’t love Sookie…..Bill would do anything for her, Book and show….but I really think this poll is about the show to be honest….and that’s Bill all the way!

Are people blind? Bill sexier than Eric? Solely based on the show, I will pick Eric, no competition there. Sure, Bill was great in the first Season, but he’s gotten dull, boring and old with pasty white face(not good for a vampire). Eric can be a bad ass vampire and violent, but with heart(as seen in Season 2, episode 9) Yeah, Bill loves “Sucky,” but its based on lies. You don’t need to read the books to see the obvious hints portrayed on the show. *Book spoiler*for the bookies, how can you forgive a guy who committed the most heinous crime against a woman! I’ll be surprise if the show will include that scene in the next Season so not to devastate the Bill lovers out there. Yes, I admit I am a bookie, but I also love the show (for ASkars)and do enjoy the differences and dislike some as well. Except for the scene mentioned, I actually like Book Bill better than Show Bill aka Saint Bill *rolleyes*

He’s far from being ‘Saint Bill’ on screen – what have you been watching? Sure, he’s been softened a bit to suit the leading role, but he’s still got his vampire instinct. As for the SM/AS debate – beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that, but Alex S just doesn’t do anything for me.
Eric’s been killing for 1000+ years without regret. Bill felt regret within the first 100 years and has since shown far more compassion and humanity than Eric is capable of. Bill obviously regrets his deception of Sookie.
If it wasn’t obvious, my vote goes to Bill.

I pick Eric of course! Eric has never tried to hide who he is. Unlike Bill! Eric is so sexy and makes Bill seem boring by comparison. BTW, Eric and Sookie are fated. Everyone knows that!

Eric, hands down. It’s not even a contest. Both on the show and in the books. Sookie brings out feelings in him that he hasn’t had for hundreds of years, and he absolutely loves her. Everything that he’s done for her over and over again proves that. He may be manipulative at times but at least he’s not a liar. Plus on TB, he is absolutely gorgeous. Thank God for Alexander Skarsgard.

Bill is just plain BORING. Eric all the way!!! He is always truthful with Sookie whereas Bill has lied to her several times. Eric is a mystery and I love peeling back the layers to discover more about him.

100 per cent in Bill’s corner. He’s a wonderful combination of courtly manners and dangerous vampire. He is devoted to Sookie. No matter what mistakes he may have made or secrets he has kept, that love never waivers. He would die for her, and proved his willingness to do just that in the last episode of Season 1.

Bill is my choice. Why do so many Eric lovers feel the need to behave like nasty 13 yr olds to justify their choice? State your choice and move on.
