According to Page Six , Michael Cooper’s rebuttal memoir to Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat, Pray, Love has been scrapped. He is the ex-husband she divorced prior to starting the yearlong journey she writes about in Eat, Pray, Love. Cooper had a deal with Hyperion to write his side of the story and how he recovered from their divorce by doing humanitarian work.
Cooper finished the manuscript, called “Displaced,” but he claims Hyperion refuses to publish it because it’s not racy enough. He says, “In the end, it seemed to me that Hyperion hoped to push the book in a more controversial direction — something I was unwilling to do. I am exploring options with other publishers.”
The movie version of Eat, Pray, Love, starring Julia Roberts, will be in theaters on August 13. Check out Daemon’s Movies for more coverage.
