Disney Buys Film Rights For MATCHED

Disney and Offspring Entertainment have bought the film rights to Ally Condie’s upcoming book, Matched. They won a bidding war with Paramount for young adult novel, which Disney hopes can become the next Twilight film franchise.

Matched is set in a dystopian world where the events of everyone’s lives—where you work, who you love, when you die—are determined by a power called the Society. It tells the story of Cassia, a 17-year-old girl on her way to her Matching ceremony where she will find she’s been matched with her best friend, Xander. But after the ceremony, she sees Ky Markham’s face flash on the screen as her match. So is it just a computer glitch or is Ky her true match?

Matched won’t be out until November 30th, but it’s already been getting rave reviews. Check out what Amy Reads, The Compulsive Reader, and Fluttering Butterflies have to say about Matched.

I can’t wait to read Matched, and this movie news just makes me even more excited for the book! Anyone else looking forward to Matched?
