Dark Horse Comics Adds More Whedonverse Titles

Angel, Spike, Willow, and the gang from Dollhouse are joining Buffy at Dark Horse Comics. One of the stories coming out of New York Comic Con last weekend was that Dark Horse is expanding their offering of titles based on canceled Joss Whedon TV shows.

Dark Horse confirmed that they will publish a Dollhouse comic sometime in 2011. It’ll pick up long after the conclusion of the show in an ruined version of Los Angeles. Dollhouse series writers Jed Whedon (Joss’ brother) and Maurissa Tancharoen will write the comic book and the art will be done by Cliff Richards.

Dark Horse will also be releasing Spike and Willow titles next year, according to ICv2.

Back in August, Dark Horse announced that they have reacquired the rights to the Angel comic series. Angel is currently owned by IDW Publishing, and they plan to launch their final 6-issue story arc in November. Joss Whedon is working with both companies to coordinate storylines and ensure a seamless transition. Dark Horse will pick up Angel in late 2011.

Personally, I’m really excited about this news (especially the Spike and Willow spinoffs). I’ve been enjoying the Twilight story arc in Buffy Season 8, and I would love to see more of Angel (I interpret this news to mean there will be more crossover between the Buffy and Angel comics, but I could be wrong about that).

Do you read any one of the Whedonverse comics? What’s your favorite?
