Harry Potter’s New Look

On November 1, Harry Potter’s UK publisher Bloomsbury gave the Potter books a whole new look. Called the “signature” editions, the new UK covers are available exclusively as paperbacks. Bloomsbury has also launched a new Harry Potter website (http://harrypotter.bloomsbury.com/) that is designed in the same theme as the new covers.

The new cover illustrations are by Scottish linocut artist Clare Melinsky and follow the style of traditional woodcuts. She says, “I was delighted and excited to be asked to illustrate the covers for such massively famous books – and seven of them! It was top secret for the best part of a year.”

Timed to coincide with the release of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movie, Bloomsbury wants to appeal to the next generation of Harry Potter fans.

The movie hits theaters on November 19, 2010. Our friends over at Daemon’s Movies have more coverage, including the movie trailer.

Oh come on, why are all these great books only released in the UK. First the Twilight Christmas books, now Harry Potter!! I might have to take a trip down there. 😉

These are gorgeous! I have them all in the original edition, but I’m extremely tempted to buy the new ones as well!

    Too cute!
