James Patterson Gets an iPhone, iPad App

Hachette Book Group recently announced the release of a James Patterson app for the iPhone and iPad. The free app, available now on iTunes, will contain the latest news about the bestselling author and his books, plus exclusive fan previews, online purchasing, author interviews, and other exclusive content.

Right now users can read a free preview of the prologue of Cross Fire, which goes on sale November 15. The app also allows users to browse Patterson’s series (like Alex Cross, Women’s Murder Club) in order of release date.

There’s also a feature that will provide automatic reminders about forthcoming books and as well as regularly updated movie reviews, author videos, contests, and direct links to his websites—including www.JamesPatterson.com and www.ReadKiddoRead.com. Readers can also sign up to be a part of Patterson’s Facebook page and Twitter feed, and to receive newsletters and information on how to participate in Patterson’s philanthropic ventures, including his latest Book Dollars For Scholars program.

Patterson says, “Whether on paper, on a screen, or through an app like this one, it’s good to see that technology can actually enhance a reader’s interest in books, rather than diminish it. I think the app will provide new and interesting ways to experience my stories and allow readers instant access to a whole new e-universe of entertainment.”
