HOME IMPROVEMENT: UNDEAD EDITION to Feature Sookie Stackhouse Short Story

Charlaine Harris and Toni L. P. Kelner are once again collaborating on an urban fantasy anthology–this time it’s Home Improvement: Undead Edition, which is due in August 2011. In addition to a new Sookie Stackhouse story, the book will also feature contributions from Patricia Briggs, James Grady, Heather Graham, and Melissa Marr.

Harris discussed the anthology in a recent interview with Jonathan Maberry (via SciFiGuy). She says:

Right now, I’m working on my next anthology with Toni L.P. Kelner, my really smart friend, who is a great editor. We’re doing an anthology on home renovations, and it’s called “Home Improvement: Undead Edition.” We’re running a little late on it – the pub date is August 2011 – but it should be out on time. We’re reading the submitted stories, sending them back to the writers with our recommendations, and writing our own stories.

Melissa Marr also mentioned Home Improvement: Undead Edition on her blog. She says her story is called “The Strength Inside” and is unrelated to any of her previous works.

I’m actually reading one of their previous anthologies, Death’s Excellent Vacation, right now. Generally speaking, short stories aren’t my favorite, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised by a few of the ones I’ve read so far. How about you? Do you look forward to these urban fantasy anthologies?
