“Read for a Cause” Literacy Campaign Launched by Scribd

Scribd recently announced the beginning of a year long, global campaign to improve literacy. The program was officially announced last week, kicking off its first half-week on Wednesday, November 17th.

The literacy program is entitled “Read for a Cause” and will include reading lists from celebrities and Scribd users alike. Users and celebrities will also be encouraged to make donations to the campaign for the construction of libraries and other programs.

The first week of the program began with a reading list from Deepak Chopra, and will feature new reading lists ech week. Other celebrity contributors include Justin Halpern (“S&*t My Dad Says”), Craig Newmark (founder of Craigslist), and Craig Silverstein (director of technology for Google).
