Obama’s OF THEE I SING Selling Like Crazy

President Barack Obama’s children’s book Of Thee I Sing is flying off bookstore shelves. Random House recently announced that the book sold 50,000 copies in its first five days on sale. That makes it the fastest selling picture book in Random House’s history.

Of Thee I Sing is a tribute to 13 groundbreaking Americans such as George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Cesar Chavez, and Georgia O’Keeffe (view the book trailer here). President Obama will donate proceeds from the book to a scholarship fund for the children of fallen soldiers.

The book has become a bestseller despite an attempt to stir up controversy over the inclusion of Sioux leader Sitting Bull. Perhaps the added publicity has only helped sales?

I think everybody should get a copy of this book. No matter what age. I purchased a few copies for my little cousins and ended up keeping one for myself. I had to reorder another copy to make up for the one I kept. Its really a great book. The illustration is beautiful.
