Name a Character in an Upcoming Novel

Have you ever wanted to see your name in a bestselling book? Here’s your chance. In what’s being called a “literary chance of a lifetime,” thirty prominent authors are offering winning bidders the chance to have their names appear in an upcoming novel.

The bidding started on Ebay [2] on November 26, and will continue until December 20. A different group of authors will be featured each week.

You could become an FBI agent or a stripper with a heart of gold in the next entry in Suzanne Brockmann’s Troubleshooters series, or a villain or a victim in Thomas Perry’s next entry in the Jane Whitefield series. There’s even a chance to name a character on the TV show Weeds.

The auctions will benefit the First Amendment Project, which is a nonprofit organization that provides free legal services on public interest free speech and free press issues. Obviously freedom of speech is a cause that many authors strongly support.

Here is a look at more of the participating authors:
Rick Moody
Suzanne Brockmann
Kevin J. Anderson
Stuart Woods
Dave Eggers
Francine Prose
Stacey D’Erasmo
Thomas Perry
Margot Livesey
Elinor Lipman
Dan Chaon
Lorrie Moore
