Gartner Predicting E-Reader Sales to Jump in 2011

E-Readers

The increasing number of tablet PCs being released each week isn’t expected to slow the sales of e-readers in 2011. According to a report from Gartner, the number of e-readers that will be sold in 2011 is expected to rise dramatically.

Gartner believes that despite the number of tablet PCs entering the marketplace, most of which have e-reader capabilities, will not slow the growth in e-reader sales. The report suggests that e-readers are expected to continue to experience fast growth in the coming years, with growth in 2011 expected to increase 68%.

The number of e-readers sold in 2009 reached 3.6 million, with 2010 sales increasing 79.8% to 6.6 million. Gartner believes that e-reader sales could top 11 million by the end of 2011.
