Wikileaks Julian Assange Forced Into Writing a Book

Julian Assange

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is claiming that financial reasons are forcing him to write his upcoming memoirs. Assange has stated that he is writing the book because it is the only way to keep his organization from folding.

Assange has struck a deal with two publishing companies to produce his memoirs. On Monday, Alfred A. Knopf publishing house in New York confirmed a deal with Assange. The 39 year old Australian has also agreed to a publishing deal with U.K.-based Canongate.

The WikiLeaks founder’s autobiography is due to publishers sometime in 2011 and as of this time the title remains unknown. Assange’s deals with Knopf and Canongate will bring in over $1 million, with the Knopf contributing $800,000 while the Canongate deal will bring in another $500,000.
