Hongying Yang is often referred to as the J.K. Rowling of China. Yang’s books have sold 40 million copies in China, and now the author is finding a new audience among English-speaking readers.

Publisher’s HarperCollins have found an increasingly larger audience for Yang’s books in the English-speaking world. According to HarperCollins, Yang’s books have been the best performers in the English-speaking world among Chinese works that have been introduced.

Yang is a former elementary school teacher and gears her work toward the 6 to 12 year old age group. Her most popular titles include “Girl’s Diary,” the “Mo’s Mischief” series and the “Diary of a Smiling Cat” series.
