Well, that mystery didn’t last long. Mark Halperin at Time magazine has revealed that Mark Salter is the formerly anonymous author behind O: A Presidential Novel. Halperin says that he has confirmed this with sources, but Salter, a former speechwriter and aide to Senator John McCain, also matches clues such as publisher Jonathan Karp’s description of the author.
The New York Post had previously named Salter as the suspected author, saying that he writes in an “adjective-filled style is similar to the ‘O’ author’s.” Salter, who has been laying low in Maine, has so far refused to comment.
O: A Presidential Novel is currently at number 495 on Amazon’s bestseller list. Perhaps this news will give it a boost.
