Fans of science fiction are about to get the chance to interact with some of their favorite writers. According to Publishers Weekly, Macmillan’s science fiction imprint, Tor Books(@TorBooks), is launching a new Twitter feed.

The feed, #Torchat, will feature a number of the publisher’s marquee authors. The writers will host hour-long discussions on the social networking site, about various SF topics. The chats will go from 4-5 p.m. EST on the third Wednesday of every month and Tor authors currently lined up to host the chats include Greg Bear, Steven Gould, and M.J. Locke.

The first #Torchat is set for February 16 and will be hosted by Bear, Gould, and Locke. This first chat will reportedly explore “hard” science fiction and will (according to the publisher) examine what “hard SF means, whose really doing it (and whose not…), and the science behind the fiction.” Tor publicist Justin Golenbeck (@jgolenbo) is set to moderate the chat.
