ONE FOR THE MONEY Movie Postponed Until 2012

Bad news, Stephanie Plum fans: the One For the Money movie has been bumped from its planned summer release date. It’s now scheduled to hit theaters on January 27, 2012.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the movie had to be moved from June 3 so that it wouldn’t go up against X-Men: First Class. A representative from Lionsgate told EW that “We just want to find the right home for [the film], and that [date] didn’t feel like it.”

The movie adaptation of Janet Evanovich’s bestselling book One For the Money has already been filmed. It stars Katherine Heigl as bounty hunter Stephanie Plum. Apparently, Evanovich sold the movie rights back in 1993 and had no involvement with the movie.

Well, this is disappointing news. But maybe the movie has a better chance to be successful on its new release date. What do you think?

I think the studio is under estimating Evanovich’s fan base. Just as the super hero set will flock to x-men, the stephanie plum fans will flock to One for the Money. (Maybe even while the boys go to X-men!) Plus, Janet drops her next book in the series at the end of June! Free publicity for the movie that would also generate excitement. I’m really disappointed in the decision to postpone the release. It was on my MUST SEE list this summer! :(

I am very disappointed with the postponement! It is a great book with a huge following. The studio needs to have more faith in the appeal they have to all the Evanovich fans. The buzz has been going around my town for months in happy anticipation. Now, we’re stuck adding 6 more months to the wait! Come on, just release it already!!!
