Shia LaBeouf, star of the Transformers franchise, is now attached to star in the Mandalay Pictures’ adaptation of HORNS. Written by Joe Hill, the son of Stephen King, Horns has been described as a love story with horror elements thrown in.

Variety reports that LaBeouf will star as Ig Perrish, who wakes up from a blackout to find horns coming out of his forehead. Horns then follows Ig’s progress as he looks into the unsolved murder of his girlfriend, and how her case is connected to the ever growing horns he’s sprouted.

Hill optioned the rights of Horns to Mandalay in October of 2009, and will serve as executive producer on the film. Peter Guber and Cathy Schulman will also produce for Mandalay, with Adam Stone (VP of Mandalay) overseeing the project.

This totally sucks. I love this book and Shia is NOT Ig. Ugh, I really hope that something happens and they cast someone else.

I don’t know. I think Shia has the chops to pull this off.
