Little, Brown to Publish THE LENNON LETTERS

John Lennon

We’ve all had a chance to hear John Lennon’s words in his songs and next fall we’ll be able to read a collection of his correspondence because Little, Brown has announced that it is publishing THE LENNON LETTERS in October, 2012, the first ever collection of John Lennon’s letters..

John Lennon’s widow, Yoko Ono, has given permission to publish a selection of his letters and official Beatles biographer Hunter Davies, who is editing and introducing the collection, has tracked down and obtained copies of 200 other Lennon letters and post cards.

Lennon wrote letters and postcards all of his life; to his friends, family, strangers, newspapers, organizations, lawyers and the laundry – most of which were funny, informative, campaigning, wise, mad, poetic, anguished and sometimes heartbreaking. The letters Davies has compiled will be arranged in chronological order, so that a narrative builds up, reflecting John’s life. It will be visual in the sense that many of the letters are reproduced as they were, in his handwriting or typing, plus the odd cartoon or doodle.

I love reading personal correspondence of writers or musicians-I think it’s like finding a window into how they think, so I’ll definitely be picking up a copy of The Lennon Letters. What about you? Any interest?
