ODD THOMAS Adaptation Sees Patton Oswalt and Undercovers’ Gugu Mbatuha-Raw

The cast for Stephen Sommers’ film adaptation of Dean Koontz’s ODD THOMAS is beginning to fill out. Showblitz reports that Gugu Mbatha-Raw, from NBC’s short-lived Undercovers, has been cast in an unspecified supporting role while Patton Oswalt (United States of Tara) will play an eccentric artist.

Mbatha-Raw and Oswalt join the already cast Anton Yelchin (Star Trek), who is on board for the titular role and Addison Timlin (Californication), who will be his girlfriend Stormy Llewellyn. Willem Dafoe and Nico Tortorella are rumored to be in talks to also join the production.

Odd Thomas centers on a young fry cook who can see but not hear the dead. He is featured in three subsequent Koontz novels: Forever Odd, Brother Odd, and Odd Hours, as well as the graphic novels In Odd We Trust and Odd Is on Our Side.

I’m a big fan of the Odd Thomas books, so I’m looking forward to the movie. How about you? Do you think you’ll go see it?
