THE HUNGER GAMES Round-up: Reapings Galore; Banks Is Officially Effie; Rumors

When we last checked in with THE HUNGER GAMES movie, eight of the twenty-four Tributes had been cast and Elizabeth Banks was in final talks to star as Effie Trinket, flaky escort to Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson). There have been several developments since then.

Banks’ deal is now done and she’s officially Effie. I can’t wait to see the first photo after she puts on the pink wig. Unfortunately, John C. Reilly’s rep downplayed the story that he is in talks to play Haymitch, so we still don’t know who will play that pivotal role. This doesn’t mean it won’t be Reilly; it’s just not him yet.

We do know who will be playing several more of the tributes, though. The Hunger Games Facebook page is updated, showing Districts 4, 5 (Hello, Foxface), 6, and 7 have been reaped. For District 4, Ethan Jamieson and Tara Macken will play the boy and girl Tributes, respectively. Jamieson has appeared in an episode of One Tree Hill and a The Rusty Bucket Kids TV movie while Macken has done a fair amount of work in stunts on both television and the big screen. She was in the awesome Community “Modern Warfare” episode, several installments of Sons of Anarchy, and The Lincoln Lawyer.

Heading to District 5, Chris Mark, who has a lot of stunt work, including stints on Nikita and Unnatural History under his belt, will be the male Tribute. Newcomer Jackie Emerson will be Foxface, who has a small but important role in the book’s plot. District 6’s boy and girl Tributes will be played by Ashton Moio and Kara Petersen. Moio has both stunt and acting work under his belt. He most recently appeared in the film Let Me In (for which he was also a stunt performer) and an episode of No Ordinary Family, and he was a stunt double in Hop. Petersen’s resume is all stunt-related and she is a stunt double in the upcoming Super 8.

Newcomers Sam Ly and Leigha Hancock are the latest unnamed Tributes cast, representing District 7. While Ly appeared in Tremors 4 and Timecop: The Berlin Decision, this will be Hancock’s first film. Only eight Tributes are still uncast, including District 2’s Cato and Clove.

Now onto some rumors. Vulture claims that Woody Harrelson is fielding an offer to play Head Gamemaker Seneca Crane while Stanley Tucci and Lenny Kravitz have also been offered unknown roles. I vote Tucci for President Snow and Kravitz could be an interesting Cinna.

So, what do you think? So many fresh-faced, stunt-savvy Tributes should make for some great Arena scenes, right? Are you seeing Banks as Effie? How do you feel about the Harrelson/Tucci/Kravitz rumor? Let us know in the comments.
