Future Facebook Themed YA Book “The Future of Us” To Become Future Movie

The Future of Us

” Imagine seeing your Facebook profile of today 15 years ago”. Such is the premise for upcoming YA novel “The Future of Us” written by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler.

Well I guess someone at Warner Bros thought that this premise would make for an interesting movie as they have just grabbed the movie rights to “The Future of Us”. It is pretty impressive to have an unpublished book have already a movie deal in the pipeline.

If you are wondering what’s behind the premise of this movie, here is the synopsis of the book:

The Future is Us is set in 1996, when less than half of all American high school students have ever used the internet. Facebook will not be invented for several more years. Emma just got a computer and an America Online CD-ROM with 100 free hours. When she and her best friend Josh log on to AOL they discover themselves on Facebook . fifteen years in the future. Everybody wonders what life has in store for them. Josh and Emma are about to find out

The book will be released November 21, 2011.

Personal Take: Ok, this is not for me. Not because I am not a YA fan or that I don’t think that this is a bad premise ( actually I like it). Unfortunately, I can’t help but seeing Miley Cyrus being cast for this so as they would say on Shark Tank: “I’m Out”
