Andrew McCarthy is Writing a Travel Memoir
Former Brat Packer Andrew McCarthy has signed on to write a travel memoir for Free Press, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. According to Entertainment Weekly, The Longest Way Home: One Man’s Global Quest for the Courage to Settle Down will be released in Fall 2012.
While Andrew McCarthy will always hold a special place in my heart as Blaine in Pretty in Pink, he’s also an award winning travel writer. He is a contributing editor at National Geographic Traveler, and has written for magazines like Travel+Leisure, Men’s Journal, The Atlantic, and Bon Appetit. McCarthy was even named the SATW Foundation 2010 Travel Journalist of the Year.
EW says the book is about “seven exotic trips” through a “tumultuous, complicated and circuitous route he has traveled to finally settle down with one women, who will marry this summer.”
McCarthy said in a statement, “Simply put, travel has changed the chemistry of who I am. It has rewritten the internal map of my life and consequently, altered the lens through which I see the world. In my experience, the power of travel to liberate and transform knows no limits.”
