Amazon Kindle 3G Getting a Wider Retail Presence
The tech race that has gripped the United States during the first decade of the 21st century has often see companies fiercely guard their latest and greatest gadgets. Rather than offer their gadgets in as many places as possible, companies have worked hard to protect their exclusive distribution rights to ensure a strong profit stream.
Amazon’s Kindle 3G has long been available in just a few retail locations, with the greatest sales coming directly from Amazon.com. Now however, the Kindle 3G is available for purchase at AT&T stores across the United States. AT&T will be selling the Kindle 3G With Special Offers for $139 and will be stocking the accessories for the device as well, including carry cases and power accessories.
Amazon’s Kindle 3G allows users to purchase eBooks anywhere, anytime over WiFi connections or AT&T’s 3G wireless network. The Kindle becomes the latest device to gain a greater retail presence after AT&T’s exclusive gripped on the iPhone slipped away earlier this summer when the device started appearing in Verizon stores.
