Who Run The eBook World? Girls, Girls!
While men are often viewed as more tech savvy and infatuated by the latest trends in technology, a recent Nielsen survey suggests that may not always be the case.
A Nielsen survey conducted this summer showed that women have begun to dominate the eReader marketplace. The survey looked at tablet, eReader, and smartphone usage by women and compared 2010 data with data from this summer’s poll.
The data showed a surge in the use of eReaders by women. Even as of last fall, women accounted for just 46% of eReader owners. This summer’s data showed that 61% of eReader owners were women. The eReader market was the only one in which ownership by women experienced such growth. More men still own tablets than women, and the smartphone market is still dominated, just barely, by men.
