Stuart Beattie to Write and Direct I, FRANKENSTEIN Film

Lakeshore Entertainment has announced that Stuart Beattie (30 Days of Night, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) will write and direct its adaptation of I, FRANKENSTEIN. The film is expected to begin shooting this fall.

I, Frankenstein is a A Darkstorm Studios graphic novel created by Kevin Grevioux focusing on a modern-day world where the classic literary monster stands between humans and a host of other supernatural creatures looking to rise up and take over. Grevioux co-created the successful werewolves-vs.-vampires series Underworld, which was also produced by Lakeshore.

Gary Lucchesi, Tom Rosenberg and Richard Wright are producing I, Frankenstein for Lakeshore. Grevioux, who first penned the adapted screenplay, will serve as an executive producer.

Beattie most recently wrote and directed the Aussie-centric teen action drama Tomorrow, When the War Began. That film was his directorial debut and it was the impact of the film’s war scenes that likely drew Lakeshore execs to Beattie for I, Frankenstein. Beattie’s two expected sequels to Tomorrow, When the War Began, both based on the John Marsden novels, have been pushed back, presumably to accommodate I, Frankenstein.

How do you think I, Frankenstein will translate onto film?
